15-year-old Schoolboy Stabbed To Death ‘Over Instagram’

A 15-year-old boy named his killer in his dying moments after he was stabbed in a “deliberate and planned attack” outside his school, a court heard yesterday. Quamari Serunkuma-Barnes was ambushed as he left the Capital City Academy in Willesden, northwest London, at 3.22pm on 23 January.

The defenceless victim was heard to shout “oh shit” and “help help” as he desperately ran for his life.

Quamari was outrun by his teenage attacker and was stabbed at least three times in his back, shoulder and upper leg, the court heard.

He was taken to hospital and told a nurse that he recognised the face of the knifeman and gave his first name.

Doctors initially thought he would survive but four hours later he died after suffering a series of cardiac arrests.

The 15-year-old suspect, who was living in Norbury, south London, at the time, was also recognised by an eyewitness but denies he was the attacker, the court heard.

Prosecutor Sally O’Neill said the motive for the stabbing “may not ever be known” but told jurors it could have something to do with a row on Instagram Live.

She said: “A possible reason for why he should be in Willesden or Harlesden emerged from a mutual friend of theirs who also goes to Capital City Academy. “This friend had some disagreements with [the suspect] over the weekend on social media and almost dared him to come up to Harlesden but thought that he wouldn’t because he knew that [the suspect] was living in the Norwood area at the time. “There is no doubt that he did leave the area. He did so to go and wait outside the school. He waited for Quamari and as soon as he saw him, he chased and stabbed him.” The attack was witnessed by several other schoolchildren who described the attacker as waiting at the corner of the road to confront Quamari, the court heard.

The 15-year-old suspect, who cannot be identified because of his age, is sitting in the well of court behind his legal team rather than in the dock.

He denies murder and the trial continues.
