Veteran musician, Sir Juju Debala dies at 70

Born blind, deaf, lame, sir Juju Debala became the first ever Urhobo artiste to have performed in England in 1948.

His father Ocheria Debala took him to a native doctor where he was being treated of his ailments. After that, Juju formed his own singing group at the age of 13 in 1963.

The name “Juju” derived from the inauspicious conditions of his childhood. For several years he could neither stand up nor walk. His death was announced on Friday August 11, 2017.
